I have to get this out somewhere. Maybe I'll post it to Facebook if I feel the need for people to actually see it, but it needs to be written down.

Dear You,

It's bad enough that I am compelled by some obsessive force to read your Twitter updates. I wish I knew how to quit you. But that's not the point I'm trying to make right now.

Please stop pretending to be informed about the things you post! You are disseminating lies. Not only lies, but lies about the wrong thing! Your desire to "educate" people could be considered well meaning, but it's pretty nefarious when the links you post are ridiculous. And the the information you spread isn't even a spin so much as it's flat out wrong.

"What's Really in Obama's Health Care Plan." So many things wrong with this article. I don't even know how you found such an outdated piece of crap short of going to google and typing in "what's really in the health care bill." That might be an okay search to do for someone who's lost about what's going on with this very confusing reform, but why would you pick the article from July 30th, 2009? Why would you pick the article that has so many ads on it, it's difficult to actually see the text? Because it's the only article you could find that enumerated the points that supported your ridiculous beef with this health care reform! And because you were too lazy to actually do any research at all!

This article is old. Do you know how many changes a bill as highly contested as this goes through before it gets passed? Just because it's on the same topic doesn't mean you can read news articles about it from 8 months ago and expect to get anything but history. If you researched the current bill at all you would have seen immediately (upon even a cursory review) that it went through a lot of compromises, changes, and (oh, I don't know) an entire reconciliation process that's been in the news for awhile now. That article you keep giving to people to inform them is about the wrong bill. It's also lying about that wrong bill, but let's not go into that.

This article is from a spam news site. Do some investigating before you post links. Anyone can put anything on the internet and call it news. This is research 101. It took me 5 minutes to learn that NaturalNews.com is an "independent" news source owned and operated by Truth Publishing LTD. Guess what they sell? Natural health books. How utterly convenient. But! They ascribe to independent journalism, you say. They have a declaration! But if you'd actually read anything, you would have noticed that it's a declaration of journalistic INTERdependence. You didn't find a diamond in the rough of independent news reporting. You found a smart publishing company that reposts bullshit to fill their ad pages. So much for your skeptical nature!

So here's the story. THIS HEALTH CARE BILL DOES NOT HAVE A PUBLIC OPTION. That's just the tip of the ice burg about what's wrong with your objections, but that's the biggest one I can convey. You are like FOXNews. You get a hold of one little soundbite that sets your panties in a twist and supports your "independent spirit," and you spread it around to make other people think you're a political nerd. You're not a skeptical, independent thinker. You're the sort of person who likes to think she's different and clever and oh-so-pioneering. And maybe you are in other aspects, but quite frankly, you suck at politics. Instead of watching CNN, maybe you should mainline C-SPAN, or ACTUALLY TRY TO READ THE BILL. Or if you don't want to read the bill, or can't understand it, then at least get your news from more than one outdated fear-mongering article.
